4th greatest NBA player of all-time:
Magic Johnson, PG
How would it be to be a point guard... but one night play the center position instead?
You could ask Magic Johnson, who in my eyes is the greatest point guard to ever play the game. Why? He had the passing ability of a point guard but the dominance of a center. He had the shooting of a shooting guard and the defense of a small forward. He was a beast on the court no matter where he played. If you needed him to shoot threes, he could. If you needed him to crash the boards, he would.
There was not much Magic couldn't do. He was the point guard in the fabled Showtime, which also consisted of James Worthy and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Together, those three destroyed opponents with their Showtime offense.
Magic worked hard, and you could see it on the court. He was most well known for the time when he played center in the 1980 NBA Finals against the Dr.J led 76ers. Kareem had injured his ankle in Game 5, so Magic, playing center in Game 6, led the Lakers to the win and the championship title.
Here are the awards that highlighted Magic's career:
Magic Johnson will always be remembered for something else as well... A rivalry with Larry Bird that has not faded over all these years. The rivalry of Magic and Bird was one that entertained the fans while providing a great game when the Lakers took on the Celtics.
